An exceptional opportunity has arisen at the Garstang site for a high performing and ambitious Plant Manager whose focus will on optimising the performance of the plant in order to support the company’s ambitious sales growth plans. With a capacity of 30,000 tonnes p.a., the plant specialises in the production of extrusion coated, barrier board products used in the detergent and food packaging sectors. Reporting to the Executive Vice President Consumer Packaging you will be responsible for the leadership and development of a total workforce of 40 people, through 6 direct reports, across operations, maintenance, quality, production planning, purchasing, sales and account administration. The role offers the opportunity to conduct a strategic and in-depth operational review of all aspects of materials management and manufacturing processes, in order to develop a manufacturing improvement programme, utilising Walki’s Operational Excellence Programme, with a focus on improving the OEE on site. There are exceptional and realistic development opportunities for a high achiever to move into a Managing Director role.
With a history of operational management success, candidates will preferably have experience in a polymer extrusion, or similar web based process industry e.g. paper, board, films. With a proven talent for increasing profits through efficiency improvement, you will be well versed in driving and developing CI strategies through the use of Lean tools and techniques. Excellent team building and communication skills will be vital as you build strong, open relationships with your team, suppliers, customers and senior colleagues alike.
